What is a heat sealer?
A heat sealer is a machine that combines two or more pieces of material using heat, forming a secure seal or closure.
There are two main types of Hacona heat sealer:
· Constant heat sealers
· Impulse heat sealers
The main difference between a constant heat sealer and an impulse sealer is how they heat the sealing area – with the former providing a continuous source of heat at a pre-set temperature and a Hacona impulse sealer only providing heat for a short period when pressure is applied from the jaws being closed.
How do Hacona heat sealers work?
A constant heat sealer (also known as a continuous heat-sealing machine) remains at a constant temperature and is best used for the secure sealing of thermoplastic materials, as well as high-speed applications. However, due to their continual heat source, it can be more dangerous to use.
Hacona impulse sealers are used to seal various types of plastic packaging, including poly bags and pouches.
As their name implies, these use impulses of electricity to heat the element wires. Instead of rising to a specific temperature and maintaining the heat, the elements only start to heat up once the machine is switched on and the operator presses down on the handle to close the jaws.
Any Hacona impulse bar heat sealing machine has a fully adjustable seal timer dial for different films, allowing you to use the optimal amount of heat to create a good seal. Above this, there is an LED for sealing indication.
When you place the plastic bag onto the sealing area and the jaws encounter the lower part of the sealer, the light will turn red. Once the seal is complete, it will turn yellow (usually after 2 seconds).
What are the benefits of our bag sealers?
At Get Me Packaging, we stock a selection of the best Hacona sealers, including C-type impulse heat-sealing machines, all of which require a domestic power supply and come with a unique range of benefits.
Increased convenience
C-type sealers are simple to operate and take up minimal space. They also have a sealing bar that can be closed manually for convenience – not to mention an integrated safety cutter knife system for cutting off the waste material above the seal.
An example of a hand-held sealer within this range includes the C620. Featuring a lever handle which compresses the bar onto the packaging itself, a hand-held heat sealer provides secure sealing.
Reliability and comfort
Heavy-duty heat sealers are also available to purchase via our website, in the form of S-type sealers. Designed to suit industrial applications, an S-type impulse heat sealer ensures seal security as standard.
In addition to our superb hand-held Hacona sealer range, we also supply accessories such as foot pedals and work stands to help speed up the sealing process and reduce fatigue.
Ease of maintenance
Impulse sealers simply require a quick wipe-down with a soft, slightly damp cloth to keep them in tip-top condition. In most cases, the heating element will need replacing after 1,000-5,000 seals along with the PTFE adhesive and PTFE cover.
Unlike other types, every industrial heat sealer we stock from Hacona is serviced through an international distributor network which means spare parts can be sourced easily from us. This ultimately extends the operating life of your machine and reduces your overall costs dramatically.
User safety
Hacona impulse heat sealers don’t require any warm-up time – allowing you to heat-seal products immediately.
They only generate high temperatures when the bar is down, helping to keep power consumption and operating costs low. But, more importantly, their ability to cool down much quicker makes them safer to use and can reduce the risk of users burning themselves.
