There are two main types of heat sealer machines: impulse and constant. An impulse heat and seal machine will only apply heat when the jaws are pressed down onto the sealing area and the set time is reached – making it vital for applications where high temperatures aren’t required to create a seal.

A constant bag sealer machine provides a continuous source of heat in the sealing jaws, which is great for sealing heavy materials. The temperature can be set to keep the jaws hot while the heat sealer is on – unlike an impulse heat sealer that only heats up when the jaws are closed.

At Get Me Packaging, we supply some of the best impulse heat sealers from Hacona and Pacplus – including a variety of table-top and semi-automated machines. To find out more about the different types available, or for help choosing the right bag heat sealer machine for your application, contact us.

A heat sealer (sometimes referred to as a bag sealer machine) has a heating element that heats up and melts a thin layer of plastic on both sides of a seam, creating a strong bond.

The heating element in an impulse heat sealer is not heated up continuously. Instead, heat is generated when the device is switched on and the sealing arm is engaged – completing the electrical circuit.

When materials are placed on the sealing area, the operator simply uses the handle to clamp the sealing arms (jaws) and apply pressure to form the seal.

The electric current heats the element for a specific time, which can be adjusted and controlled using the seal timer dial and LED sealing indicator.

If heat is not applied long enough, the seal will be incomplete and weak, but too much heat will produce smoke and cause the plastic to burn.

Depending on which heat sealer you choose, it may have an integrated safety cutter knife that allows you to remove any excess material before lifting the bag off the sealing area. For more information about our heat sealers

Yes, impulse heat sealers are deemed much safer than constant heat sealers – mostly because they heat up and cool down quickly.

The heating element in an impulse heat sealer will only heat up when the bar is pressed down and they’ll cool when the jaw is released – helping users to avoid burns and injuries. Another great thing about these heat sealing machines is that they are less likely to cause damage to products – preventing wastage, which is great for the environment!
